Advances in materials and technology have meant that amazing “life like” prostheses are now not only possible for current prosthetic users but also for those who have been previously told that there is nothing that can be done.

Finger Restoration

Finger Prostheses

Basic skills like holding a glass, reaching for an object, holding a pencil, using ATMs can become daunting after finger amputations. If the client has movement in the remaining portion of the finger, the silicone prostheses can restore some lost function of the finger. By restoring finger length, it improves pinch force, holding of an object and also enhances opposition function to some extent. The degree of detail of these prostheses is highly customised and also they are remarkably lifelike. There is a choice between acrylic (nail paint canbe used) or silicone nails. The silicone prostheses also protects the sensitive tip of the finger from further trauma

These are normally attached through a suction fit. If stump length is very less or even not at all available then prosthetic adhesives are used for suspension along with extra ring and band suspension.

Toe Prosthesis

Processing System

Partial hand prosthesis can sometime provide counter pressure when grasping objects. Custom high-definition silicone prostheses are also suitable for partial hand restorations. The most advanced, custom made high-definition silicone cosmetic covers can be manufactured for most upper limb amputees. These match the size, shape and features of the individual’s sound-side limb to any desired detail.

To assure proper colour matching, digital images of the user’s hands are taken against a background template. These images are re-calibrated by the silicone facility using a graphics colour-matching system. Artists and technicians then use this information to produce a realistic cosmetic cover to place over the prosthesis.

Care of Prosthesis

It is essential to clean the residual limb every day after wearing the prosthesis.

Fingernails

The nails on your prosthesis can be painted with regular nail polish. You may paint your nails as frequently as desired; however, when removing the nail polish please use non-acetone nail polish remover.

Prevention

Although our prostheses are very strong and durable; oils will damage them over time. Since oils will seep into the silicone skin, they saturate the silicone matrix and cause damage. As a result, hair and body products that contain oils should not be used when wearing the prosthesis.

Damage

If you damage your prosthesis in any way, send it to us immediately. In most cases we can repair the prosthesis to where the damage is almost undetectable.

Stains

There are some substances that may stain your prosthesis: Avoid bleach, tobacco smoke, permanent markers, carbon paper, and “carbonless-carbon” paper.

Variety of Prostheses Services

High Definition Silicone Lower Limb Prostheses.

Over recent times, cosmetic restoration after the loss of a limb has become increasingly important to amputees. The introduction of silicone materials allows both functional and cosmetic restoration at the highest level. Most prosthetic components can be used with a silicone cover without affecting its functionality.

High Definition Silicone Partial Foot Prostheses

Silicone partial foot prostheses offer a range of advantages when compared to traditional partial foot prostheses. The benefits include enhanced comfort as well as biomechanical and cosmetic advantages. The properties of the silicone allow for superior socket comfort and a total contact fit. The suction suspension helps eliminate any unwanted movement between the socket and the prosthesis. The natural rollover characteristics of this type of prosthesis enables the user to achieve a near normal gait pattern, most notably on uneven or sloped surfaces.

High Definition Silicone Toe Prostheses

Silicone toe prostheses can be created in various ways and restore the cosmetic appearance and are also designed for weight bearing requirements. Options for silicone or acrylic nails are available.

Use of Prosthesis

Putting Your Finger Prosthesis On

Apply a thin layer of the Vaseline to the appropriate areas. Gently push the prosthesis on, making sure all air is pushed out. If the prosthesis slides or rotates after the application, then too much lubricant was used. When using jewelry to cover transition lines, always put the jewelry on before putting on the prosthesis.

Removing Your Finger Prosthesis

Remove your prosthesis by pinching the prosthesis toward the open end. This will allow air to travel into the prosthesis as you are slowly pulling the prosthesis off. It may be necessary to repeat the pinch and pull again if the suction is not broken. When using jewelry, use extra care when removing the prosthesis.

Bending Your Finger

If you have an armature installed in your finger prosthesis, always bend the finger at the middle knuckle only. Bending the armature at the fingernail can very easily result in the armature puncturing the surface of the skin.

Use of Prosthesisy

Proper use of your prosthesis is very important for the longevity of your prosthesis. Never sleep with your prosthesis. Constant wear of your prosthesis for extended periods of time may cause skin irritation. Do not wear your prosthesis over any unhealed cuts or sores, as they will increase your risk of infection.
